Agricultural Appraisal Advisory Board responsibilities
The Agricultural Appraisal Advisory Board is also referred to as the Agricultural Advisory Board. The purpose of the Agricultural Advisory Board is to advise the Chief Appraiser on the valuation of agricultural, open space agricultural, and timber land within the county appraisal district. The Agricultural Advisory Board meets at the request of the Chief Appraiser at least three times a year.
It is composed of three or more members as determined by the Board of Directors. Members of the Agricultural Advisory Board are appointed by the appraisal district chief appraiser with the advice and consent of the appraisal district board of directors. Members serve for staggered terms of two years and do not receive compensation.
Members of the Agricultural Advisory Board must have been residents of the district for at least five years. An employee or officer of an appraisal district may not serve as a member. One of the members must be a representative of the county agricultural stabilization and conservation service. The remainder of the members must be land owners of the appraisal district whose land qualifies for appraisal under the Property Tax Code Subchapter C, D, E, or H, Chapter 23.
